How is a 1/2 mile of sound possible?
Understanding enclosures and drivers… the stuff that makes all the difference the no fluff real deal technical reasons why we think these are the most functional baddest speaker systems on the planet!
Actual driver size VS listed size Size matters! That is actual speaker size because you can’t hear oversized speaker grills. Some of today’s top manufactures offer a stated “6.5 in speakers” that have an actual speaker cone size of only 5 inches! A fairly clear indicator when driver shopping is its cut out size. If it’s cut out is 5 inches the driver is very near that size. Our 6x9’s are different with a cutout of 6 x 8.7 you are getting all driver from our 6x9’s
The math on single drivers and enclosures A 6.5 inch speaker with an actual cone driver size of 5 in is only .13 square feet (SF). Our drivers are .27 SF! Yes that’s over double the surface area of the “6.5” competitors offer. Some competitors only reach our cone size in their speakers labeled nearly 9 inches. Good luck putting those heavy beasts on your side by side. They come in at nearly 13 inches with grills and mounts! And yes with only one driver are 2.5 lbs heavier than our entire 3 driver enclosure!
So enclosure vs enclosure? With our 6 larger multidirectional speakers we are at 1.62 SF VS .26 SF found with the competitors YES that’s 6.2 times more speaker in a pair of MDA enclosures! 3x the direction of sound 6.2x the actual speaker size.. This takes us to 130 DB (decibels) in each direction! or the equivalent of standing next to a military jet leaving a carrier with it’s after burners on! (Seriously) (Check out our video)
Enclosure materials, resonance and airspace The enclosure is just as important as the speaker and is where the magic lies. Hold even the best speaker in your hand without an enclosure and it’s nearly worthless. A driver’s performance is directly related to what it’s in and where it’s mounted (but we will get to that (directionality) later. A perfect enclosure offers extremely rigid framework and airspace behind them, this becomes more important as the drivers are larger in size. If an enclosure has flimsy plastic vibrating, or is too small (due to limited airspace) so is your sound! Our MDA enclosures optimize these essential properties. A true proper enclosure offering new, next level high performance output.
Location location location! High frequency sound is directional. They perform far better when they directly reach your ear and are not “off axis” Sit in the front seat of your car and fade to the rear speakers ehhh not impressive.. They sound amazing when sitting in back but in the front they can’t touch your front drivers.. This is because your front speakers are designed, positioned and optimized to reach your ears directly on axis. Your rears sound terrible and you are only 3 feet away! The same is true in most boats with the majority of drivers at your feet and knees firing at a low level across the hull. You need them every few feet to get them to somewhat perform through poor off axis sound reflection, even with 20 drivers you can’t touch the quality and output sound of our enclosures front, back and inside of the boat. Our Directionality based design coupled with a true high performance enclosure that has Drivers equaling 1.62 SF (6.2 times the actual speaker size) is a game changer! The great news is you don’t have to start over they can be added to an existing low mount configuration boat system in minutes. So you’re saying it takes 13 competitors listed 6.5 in speakers to equal your single all in one unit, so 13 drivers is an equal option as well. Nope, just like applied horsepower from a single large engine vs 13 lawnmower engines they are not equal. Too many Speakers in one area can create all kinds of loss of sound from issues like cancelation and combing. Too many speakers sharing the same area can literally cancel each other out, especially when directly facing each other in situations like across boat gunnels. These losses are particularly seen in lower frequencies so yes you are hearing them but they are light,partial and tinny and their full lower sound is literally being erased/ cancelled
So 130 Decibels they are loud AF! What about clarity? Non clarity or distortion typically comes from over driving speakers trying to get them to do what they can’t. Even the best of the best brands can’t beat physics. People push them for more volume and they fall on their face. This goes back to limitations of small drivers and their enclosures. Distortion of sound from being over driven or harshness screeching sound often comes from drivers not sized large enough to get the sweet spot of frequencies (mid and low mid) without that warmth frequency band you get tinny and harsh. During our sound testing people literally got chills from the sound of acoustic guitar, piano strings even the normally lost lower tones of the female voice. These enclosures are truly musical and beautiful sounding at crazy high volume, the opposite of just loud and harsh.
